Destination Engagement Session in Asheville North Carolina:
When Briana and Chris approached me for their engagement session, I really wanted to do something that embodied who they were as a couple. We emailed back and forth some great ideas local to Jacksonville, but I was thinking of something bigger because of how they described themselves as a couple. I went totally out on a limb and threw out the idea of doing a destination engagement session in Asheville North Carolina.
They loved the idea of going up to Asheville! My heart was overjoyed and knew this was going to be so much fun! Number one because if you’ve never been to Asheville, it’s such a cool hip town tucked in by some gorgeous mountains and number two because I knew these photos would truly represent them as a couple. We set a date and started coming up with locations and ideas.
For the first part of the engagement session, we decided to do an “in-home engagement session”. We emailed back and forth possible Airbnb’s that fit their style. Who knew there were so many cute places to rent in Asheville…but there are a ton! Briana and Chris settled on a location that was tucked away in a forest. It made for some intimate, fun and relaxed engagement photos.
Destination Engagement Session in Asheville North Carolina:
The funny thing about planning a destination engagement session is that ya just kinda have to go with the flow…what I mean by that is that I had scoped out an entirely different place to photograph the day before…but mother nature wasn’t havin’ it and there were crazy patches of rain and fog that day, so I had to think on the fly.
We ended up shooting by Looking Glass Falls in the gorgeous Pisgah National Forest in West Asheville, North Carolina. It was July, so that meant this national park was full of tourist for the summer, luckily the rain scared off a good bit of them so we were able to get some solo shots down by the falls.
Next, we headed up to the mountains! The gorgeous 360 views of Asheville’s mountains was insane! Watching the sunset over the horizon was truly breathtaking. We were able to get some epic shots wandering around the forest and on the grassy mountain tops. This was truly one of my most favorite engagement sessions because it involved things I LOVE to do: chillin’ and hiking. hahaha. After we hiked down the mountain after sunset, we to Zaxby’s for some late night fried chicken and french fries. It was a “treat yo self” kinda day!
