When Rachel & Trevor first asked me to come up with some cool fun ideas for their engagement session, I immediately thought of the Ice Plant located in Downtown St. Augustine . This hip and trendy bar is truly a throwback to days of early 20th century. The Ice Plant focuses on hand crafted cocktails and farm to table food. The cool thing about the Ice Plant is that is actually was an Ice Plant in the early 1920s. From the leather bar stools to the vintage ice tools hanging on the wall this place is all things hip and trendy you need in a bar…plus the drinks are AMAZING! My personal favorite is the Florida Mule, especially on a hot day in the summer.
SETTING THE TONE FOR THE ICE PLANT ENGAGEMENT SESSION:
For their engagement session, we decided to go earlier in the day on weekday to avoid the major crowds. During the first part of the shoot we had the entire bar to ourselves, which created a great environment for really fun and intimate moments. The light coming in through the industrial windows really created some epic light moments that I’m in love with.
SHAKING UP THE ENGAGEMENT SHOOT:
Pun intended…hahaha. For the second part of their engagement, we decided to roam around the historic streets of St. Augustine. Rachel & Trevor really loved the soft romantic feel of the Tree Tunnel on Magnolia Street with the overhanging Spanish moss. This street has been voted one of top ten most beautiful streets in America via Trip Advisor. Located right outside of the Fountain of Youth, this street creates a perfect setting for an engagement session. The soft grass of the Spanish moss and the endless tunnel of trees sets a tone for southern romance. The rest of the day was spent roaming the cobblestone streets of St. Augustine.
