Downtown Charleston, SC Destination Wedding at the Historic Rice Mill

Brittney and Kenny radiate that classic romance we’re all looking for, and their destination wedding in historic Charleston, SC perfectly highlighted their timeless love. Family and friends gathered from out of town to celebrate this commission of love in the couple’s favorite city at the Historic Rice Mill, and danced the night away overlooking the gorgeous marina on Rainbow Row. As a wedding photographer, I was I felt so fortunate to photograph such a beautiful (inside and out) couple on their wedding day in such a romantic, coastal city.

Southern Coastal Proposal Under Fireworks

Brittney and Kenny met at college, while attending Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau and it didn’t take long for them to realize that their search for love ended with one another! Kenny waited patiently for Brittney to graduate, and then the lovebirds took on their next adventures in Atlanta, Georgia.

During a Myrtle Beach vacation with Brittney’s family, Kenny secretly planned to pop the question. But in true gentleman fashion, Kenny first planned to ask Brittney’s father for her hand in marriage. It took him a few days to gather courage enough to ask permission, but of course Dad was delighted to offer his blessing!

Needing some time to themselves after a few fun-filled family days, Brittney and Kenny booked a historic and romantic Airbnb for their own little getaway in their favorite city, Charleston, SC. That evening, Kenny took Brittney to her favorite restaurant, Pearlz, then for a walk on the shoreline. It was a scene already set for celebration when Kenny surprised Brittney with the big question right there on the beach, and fireworks burst overhead as Brittney said YES!

A Classic Look for a Natural Beauty

Brittney and her dedicated bridesmaids got ready in the bridal suite on site at the Trinity United Methodist Church. The perfect afternoon light gave way to some beautiful shots of our stunning bride. Her hair was done up in a classic top bun, wrapped with the slightest little braid. There was a touch of romance in every chic detail this day. A vintage inspired bracelet and teardrop earrings with splashes of blue set off her gorgeous trumpeted halter gown, and accented the baby blue color of each bridesmaid dress. Brittney wore an intricate scalloped bridal belt with beading, which perfectly complemented the wide lace trim on her cathedral veil. To seal her modern classic bridal style, Brittney used a dash of CoCo Chanel Mademoiselle. The ladies all picked up their beautiful bouquets with green accents before heading the the alter for the ceremony!

A Perfect Setting for a Sweet Ceremony

Brittney and Kenny exchanged vows at the altar of the majestic Trinity United Methodist Church. Light blue walls with intricate white moulding made the scene look like it was set just for this wedding! The stained glass windows added an extra touch of artistic elegance, but only one thing could outshine this grandiose set, our stunning bride Brittney. Her perfectly fitted white gown breathed both luxury and fun as she took to the isle. Bridesmaids, dressed in vintage-blue gowns, and groomsmen who looked like they stepped out of a 007 film all shared in an emotional celebration of the couple as they pledged to keep their spark alive for life. After the sweetest kiss to seal their vows, Brittney and Kenny showed gratitude in their smiles while they greeted each of their guests as man and wife!

Wedding Party Fun on the Low Country Trolley

A beautiful vintage-style low country trolley picked up the wedding party for a private photo adventure after the ceremony. The group put on their sunglasses and grabbed a beer to get the party started! Brittney and Kenny shared their first toast as man and wife on the trolley with their closest friends as they took a moment to celebrate themselves before the big party. The wedding party brought so much jubilance to the photos and you can see their fun personalities shining through their laughs. It was so much fun to capture one of the best days ever for this flawless couple and their family and closest friends.

Tropical Reception in The Marina Room at the Historic Rice Mill Plantation

At the entrance of The Marina Room, Brittney and Kenny welcomed their guests with a flower lined sign that read “Mau Loa”, which translates to “forevermore”. This celebration of love would take the shape of a romantic tropical sunset while friends and family gathered for dinner and drinks by the grand windows overlooking the water on Rainbow Row. Bright pink flowers and fresh greenery surrounded the perfect centerpieces; whole pineapples! Gold accents and candlelight kept that vintage classy flair intact.

Bridesmaids and groomsmen danced their way into the reception, sunglasses on and ready to party. Brittney looked absolutely dazzling when she was introduced for the first time as Mrs. Hosp! Kenny, with his bride on his arm, was understandably the happiest man in the room.

Speeches from honored guests had the couple between tears and laughs, and the love for Brittney and Kenny was palpable. The reflection of sunset showed off over the marina, and we took a timeout for an irresistible photo sesh with the newlyweds. Family and friends enjoyed cocktails around relaxing tables outside and tried their hand on a custom painted pineapple version of cornhole!

At sundown, guests raised a toast to Brittney and Kenny as they cut into their modern simple cake adorned with pink flowers and a cute gold “hooray” topper. Despite their playful attempts to avoid a face full of cake, Brittney and Kenny both got more than a taste of icing. But like the true love and fun that this couple exhibits, they helped clean up their mess with the sweetest kiss.

With the evening closing in and desserts finished, the couple took to the dance floor to celebrate their official beginning to life together. The father-daughter and mother-son dances were real tear jerkers, and showed just where Brittney and Kenny’s capacity for love comes from. With the romantic details of this celebration wrapped up, it was time for everyone else to show off their two step!

The space transformed with the addition of colorful disco lights and classic wedding dance songs like the Cha Cha Slide and The Cupid Shuffle. Brittney and Kenny showed off their moves for friends and family and everyone danced the night away in celebration. We all wish a lifetime of romance and fun to Mr. and Mrs. Hosp!
