Ya’ll!…ya’ll….I mean…this sunset tho. WOW! The day before Eric and Ally’s elopement, we road-tripped around the mountains of Asheville for one epic engagement session! From waterfalls to mountain tops…this one was the best!
The photograph below is one of my all-time favorite moment’s I’ve ever captured. No faces, just the moment in dewy grass on the side of a mountain top looking into an incredible sunset. Just pure emotion and living in the moment. I love this so much.
Asheville, North Carolina Engagement Session: Black Balsam Knob & Craggy Gardens
We started the day off at Craggy Gardens, which is just a little south of Asheville. Craggy Gardens never ever disappoints! This location offers a deep wooded evergreen path that leads to a mountain top. We had such a fun start to the day shooting here.

Later in the afternoon, we headed out to Pisgah National Forest. If you’ve never been before…I highly recommend it. There are so many locations to stop within the forest for breathtaking photography.
Our first stop was at Linville Falls. This waterfall is just a few steps away from the road. We had to wait for a hot minute for the rain to subside before we were able to go down to the waterfall. Once we were there…we captured some amazing moments.
Asheville, North Carolina Engagement Session: Black Balsam Knob
For the last part of the session, we headed up windy roads to the top of the mountain. Once we were up there the fog was SO thick that we debated on leaving and trying a new spot for sunset. I mean the fog was at like a 5-foot visibility in front of you.
After going back and forth, we made the call to hike up the mountain despite the conditions and see if the fog would break. I prayed the whole way up lol, Lord Jesus please let us get one incredible sunset.

Well fam, our prayers were answered…and it did not disappoint one bit. Lord, it was amazing! As the sunset, the fog began to break revealing the 360 views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Granted we were running from one spot to another as the fog broke over certain mountain tops lol.
The end of this session provided some of my favorite images EVER! I’m so incredibly glad we stayed! This was truly an engagement session for the books! Stay tuned for the blog post of Eric & Ally’s elopement we captured the next day!
I had SO much fun with ya’ll! I CAN’T WAIT to share more! Congratulations!
